How We Help Infants Feel at Home

For a baby, starting care means meeting new people and discovering a new place. For a parent, it means trusting someone else with the little details of a baby’s day—what comforts them, how they show they are tired, and what makes them curious. We take that trust seriously.

Getting to know your baby

A study of belonging can begin with the most familiar subject: the child. Self-portraits, family stories, and conversations about names help children see what makes each person distinct. As they grow more aware of themselves, their questions naturally move outward. Where do I belong? Who and what shares the places I know?

Teachers learn through observation, too. A baby may turn toward a familiar voice, reach for an interesting material, or pause to watch another child. These small moments help us understand each baby’s interests and needs.

Connection through everyday care

Relationships grow during ordinary moments. Responding to a baby’s sounds, talking gently during care, and making time for face-to-face interaction all create opportunities for connection. Feeding, rest, play, and transitions deserve thoughtful attention. Every infant’s day looks a little different, and our approach makes room for those differences.

Small moments of discovery

Infant learning can be simple: listening to a song, looking at a face, reaching for an object, or exploring an appropriate texture.

Our Reggio-inspired approach encourages teachers to notice what captures a baby’s attention and respond with suitable opportunities to explore. There is no need to rush toward the next milestone.

Staying connected with families

We use Procare to share information about your baby’s day. Your observations matter just as much—changes at home can help teachers better understand what your child needs.

Becoming comfortable in a new setting takes time. Through ongoing conversation and attentive care, we work with families to help each baby become familiar with the people and routines around them.
