Learning to be a Maker has never been more fun...

Every day is different, and we’re always trying new things! Do something new each time you visit, whether it’s using a saw for the first time, pushing your sewing skills further or experimenting with a programming language to see how it works, our Teaching Artists and Educators are here to help you get started and want to know what you think!

At Little Steamers, we provide a cool place for young children as young as three years old to create, to tinker, and to innovate. Here they can play around with ideas, make things together and mess around with tools, materials and techniques. They will learn to investigate how things work, discover how things are used, and learn new processes and skills.

Our Makerspace isn't just for big kids!

At Little STEaMers we know that little kids can explore the world through playing, tinkering, and making. By introducing them to making and design thinking early on, we're developing their potential in many ways:

  • Teach our kids to persevere in the face of failure

  • Develop critical thinking skills necessary in our rapidly changing world

  • Help prepare them for the future

Preschoolers and Critical Thinking

Preschoolers are naturally curious and driven to learn about the world around them. That's why we're so eager to teach them about STEAM and critical thinking. We believe in the value of interest-driven engagement in creative production that connects science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). It begins with making familiar materials accessible to children and encouraging them to engage with the materials in new ways.

When children spend time in our Makerspace, they learn about doing things hands-on. This builds up their motor skills and spatial awareness, as well as their comprehension about cause and effect. They can make mistakes in a safe and controlled environment. This way they learn to test their ideas and it builds a foundation in their young brains for engineering, design thinking, and the scientific method.
